Lecturer, MIT Architecture
Research Scientist, Human-Computer Interaction Engineering (HCIE) Lab, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
I am a Post-Graduate Fellow at the MIT Department of Architecture, and a researcher at the Human-Computer Interaction Engineering Lab at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. My research focuses on computational design, interactive fabrication, and user-centered design from a computational point of view. I hold an MS in Design Computation from MIT, an MS and a Diploma in Architectural Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. In my graduate thesis at MIT I introduced Active Prototyping, a framework for embedding iteration and solution exploration, two essential parts of the computational design process, into tools for interactive fabrication. A fundamental part of my research lies on the creation of educational curricula that integrate computation and user experience, and on the development of technical workflows and strategies relating to the material aspects of human-centered design. Currently, I am working on computational methods for evaluating user experience, feel and physical performance of design objects and spaces in lab and online settings.
